It becomes grey to brown in colour and striated with numerous nodes.
The bark shows light irregular lenticels.

Leaf
The leaves of Barleria longiflora are simple growing in opposite arrangement.
They are elliptic ovate in shape, with a long-pointed tip.
They are 3 to 5 cm long and 1 to 4 cm wide.
The upper and the lower sides of the leaf are densely pubescent.
The base of the leaf is truncate to rounded, the margin is ciliate and the apex acute.
One leaf has about 6 lateral nerves, and the petiole is about 1 cm long.
The leaves are light green in colour with a silver tinge to them.

Flower
The flowers of Barleria longiflora grow in racemes of 1 to 3 flowers.
The flowers have 5 petals white in colour.
The flower tube is long and narrow, 5 to 8 cm in length, emerging from a pair of bracts.
The flower bracts are leafy and linear-lanceolate with long stiff hairs.
The bracts become brown and scarious (dry and membranous) with age.
There are 2 stamens with 3 mm long anthers, light purple in colour.
The ovary is obovoid and contains 4 ovules.

Fruit
