Dracaena roxburghiana

Dracaena roxburghiana is a short evergreen succulent perennial plant. 
The plant is stemless, or sometimes with a very short stem. 
It produces leaves from a rhizomatous rootstock which is stout, branching and stoliniferous.

The roots of Dracaena roxburghiana are vibrant orange in colour. 
The rhizom is superficial, visible on the surface of the ground. 
The primary root is persistent. 
The stem is inexistent or very short.

The leaves of Dracaena roxburghiana are simple and radially arranged. 
They are fleshy, erect and rigid. 
The leaves are 45 to 75 cm long and 2 to 5 cm broad. 
The leaves are concave above, rounded dorsally, linear-lanceolate and channelled. 
The colour of the leaves are green transversely marked with a number of darker lines. 
The leaf apex is acute and the margin entire. 
The leaves are fibrous.

The flowers of Dracaena roxburghiana are bisexual. 
They appear numerous in a spike-like raceme about 30 to 45 cm long. 
The flowers are borne in fascicles of 3, sometimes up to 6. 
The flower-stalks are 6 to 9 cm long, and they are jointed. 
The flowers are pale white in colour and sweet-scented. 
They are 2.50 to 3 cm long, with the perianth segments nearly twice as long as the tube.

The fruit of Dracaena roxburghiana is a globose fleshy berry. 
It is about 8 mm across and has often protuberances. 
It usually grows single from the stem but sometimes in pairs.
It is green in colour turning orange at maturity.
The berry is indehiscent. 
The fruit is sparingly produced.

The seeds of Dracaena roxburghiana are irregular globose solid spheres.
They is 1 seed per fruit or none. 
The seeds are less than 0.5 cm across.
The seeds are white, with a wavy irregular albumen.
