Antidesma ghaesembilla

Antidesma ghaesembilla is deciduous small tree growing up to 6 m in height.

The bark of Antidesma ghaesembilla is fairly smooth with vertical fissures. 
The tender parts are pubescent. 
The bark is grey in colour, the branchlets are brown and warty. 
They become hairless with age.

The leaves of Antidesma ghaesembilla are simple, with alternate arrangement. 
The leaves are laterally stipulated. 
The leaves are 3 to 8 cm long and 2 to 5 cm wide. 
They are linear or lanceolate. 
The petiole is slender and tomentose, the leaf margin is entire.   

The flowers of Antidesma ghaesembilla are unisexual (the species is dioecious). 
The male flowers are yellow in colour and more pubescent than the female flowers. 
They are appearing in terminal and axillary much branched spikes. 
The peduncle is densely brown. 
The female flowers are white-green in colour, they are also appearing in terminal and axillary branched or simple racemes.
 

The fruit of Antidesma ghaesembilla is a glabrous drupe with a persistent calyx. 
The epicarp is crinkled. 
The colour of the fruit turns from red to blue-purple when fully ripe.
The fruit size is less than 1 cm.
 

The seeds of Antidesma ghaesembilla are small and unevenly crinkled. 
They are green to brown in colour. 
Their size is about 5 mm.
